Specimen Handling
It is critical that samples be kept at room temperature; use extra packing to maintain temperature. Specimen must arrive at Children's Hospital before noon for same day testing, or blood should be drawn as late in the day as possible, maintained at room temperature and sent early am to allow test set-up within the 20 hour window the following morning. Samples must be analyzed within 20 hours of collection. Sample must be received in Children's lab before 12 noon on Friday. No testing is performed on weekends or holidays.
