Specimen Handling

Collect specimen in lavender-top (EDTA) tube. Centrifuge specimen within 24 hours of collection, remove plasma and transfer to a polypropylene screw-capped tube, and freeze. Ship frozen. To avoid delays in turnaround time when requesting multiple tests on frozen samples, PLEASE SUBMIT SEPARATE FROZEN SPECIMENS FOR EACH TEST REQUESTED.

Unacceptable Conditions

Quantity not sufficient for analysis; leaking or broken tube; inadequate storage or transport; whole blood

Temperature

FREEZE(preferred) OR refrigerate.
