Reference Range Information
Cardiology Patients:
A PRU of less than 208 (208 = approximately 35% inhibition of platelet function) is considered an appropriate response to anti-platelet therapy.
Lower PRU values indicate greater anti-platelet response.
Pre-surgical Patients:
A PRU of greater than 237 indicates there is less than 20% inhibition of platelet function due to P2Y12 receptor blockage.
Higher PRU values indicate less platelet dysfunction present.
Additional reference text is reported with the result:
This test specifically measures the effects of platelet dysfunction due to P2Y12 receptor drugs (i.e. clopidogrel, prasugrel, ticlopidine and ticagrelor).
