Light Green Top (Lithium Heparin), Gold Top SST

Specimen Handling

Submit one of the following specimens: Plasma Draw a full, 3-mL green-top (lithium heparin) tube. Spin down immediately and send entire tube refrigerated. Avoid hemolysis. Serum
Draw a full, 3.5-mL serum gel tube. Allow blood to clot, immediately spin down, and send entire tube refrigerated. Forward promptly.
Or:
Draw a full, 6-mL plain, red-top tube.Allow blood to clot, immediately spin down, remove serum from cells, place seruminto an aliquot tube. Label the aliquot tube with
sample type (Serum). Send aliquot tube refrigerated.

Label sample with two patient identifiers, date, time of collection and collector's identification.
