Specimen Handling
Allow specimen to clot for 30 minutes. Centrifuge and separate from cells within 45 minutes of draw. Transfer to a plastic transport tube before shipping.
Unacceptable Conditions
Gross hemolysis; gross lipemia; improper labeling; patients under 18 years old or over 100 years old.
Temperature
SHIP ON FROZEN COOL PACKS OR DRY ICE. Ship with enough dry ice so ice exists upon receipt of package. Samples cannot go above room temperature.
