Specimen Type
One 1.0 mL (min: 0.5 mL) urine frozen. Record total volume and collection time interval on transport tube. If second-morning urine is submitted, indicate "second-morning" on transport tube.

Specimen Handling
Collect 24 hour or second-morning urine. Sample must be refrigerated during collection.
24 Hour Urine Collection Instructions:
1. Obtain Container.
2. Patient to void at start of 24 hour period - discard urine.
3. Collect all urine for 24 hours.
4. Refrigerate container during collection.
5. At end of 24 hour period, patient to void - this urine must be included in the collection.
6. Deliver specimen to laboratory at end of collection period.

Additional Information
Patient Preparation: For monitoring therapy, a baseline specimen should be collected prior to initiation of therapy. Subsequent specimens for comparison should be collected at the same time of day as the baseline specimen.
