Additional Information
Obtain specimen using a gastroduodenal tube or fiberoptic endoscopy. Collect 2.0 mL in a sterile syringe (remove needle and cap syringe). Alternatively, inject specimen into a Red Top Tube. (1.0 mL minimum)

Preliminary: Negative reported daily up to 48 hours. Positive results reported as organism(s) are detected. Final: Negative at 6 days. Positive upon completion of all organism identification with total aerobic organism count per mL of fluid, total anaerobic organism count per mL of fluid, and total fungal organism count per mL of fluid.
